A great read is "The Fearless Mind" by Craig Manning. He is our neighbor and a sports trainer for Olympians. Here are some tips from his lecture I just heard (because if you feel good on the inside, you will look good on the outside):
1. Occupy your mind with what you want. Pull out the weeds of negative thinking.
2. Keep telling yourself "I CAN do this!" ...say it over and over again.
3. Squeeze the doubts out of your mind. Completely get rid of any doubts.
4. Develop a support system. This could be your spouse, sister, brother, friend, coach, mentor.
5. If you have a child that needs change or improvement, constantly tell them what you want them to do.
6. Positive reinforcement is crucial. You must constantly praise and celebrate the smallest victories.
7. Show and tell them what you want them to do.
8. For every negative criticism, you must say three positives.
9. Body language is 55%, tone of voice is 38%, and words alone are 7%...so watch your tone of voice especially with your children. They pick up on your what your body language is.
10. If you want to get rid of a bad habit or behavior, you must replace it with something else...something positive.
10. Read his book
