"The Fearless Mind" by Craig Manning

A great read is "The Fearless Mind" by Craig Manning.  He is our neighbor and a sports trainer for Olympians. Here are some tips from his lecture I just heard (because if you feel good on the inside, you will look good on the outside):
1.  Occupy your mind with what you want.  Pull out the weeds of negative thinking.
2.  Keep telling yourself "I CAN do this!"  ...say it over and over again.
3. Squeeze the doubts out of your mind. Completely get rid of any doubts.
4. Develop a support system.  This could be your spouse, sister, brother, friend, coach, mentor.
5.  If you have a child that needs change or improvement, constantly tell them what you want them to do.
6.  Positive reinforcement is crucial.  You must constantly praise and celebrate the smallest victories.
7.  Show and tell them what you want them to do.
8.  For every negative criticism, you must say three positives.
9.  Body language is 55%, tone of voice is 38%, and words alone are 7%...so watch your tone of voice especially with your children.  They pick up on your what your body language is.
10.  If you want to get rid of a bad habit or behavior, you must replace it with something else...something positive.
10.  Read his book

Tattoos and Skin Cancer

Can tattoos cause skin cancer?  The word is out that the inks that they use are the same industrial type inks that they use on automobiles.  Tattoo ink is toxic and full of germs.  There has been an out break of infections caused by tattoos.  Those colorful inks contain phthalates (the things in plastic) and hydro carbons.  The black ink contains or is soot and can lead to skin cancer.  Blue ink contains cobalt and aluminum while red ink contains cadmium and mercury sulfide  Inks have been found to migrate to your lymph nodes.  So why scar the largest organ of your body???

A Dog Is a Man's Best Friend

Who knew that a dog can actually be beneficial to your health?  New studies at Harvard have found that dogs  improve and protect your health.  Besides walking your dog is good exercise, they have found that people with heart attacks  one year later are alive compared to those who don't have dogs.  Having and loving a dog is a stress reliever too.  Babies tend to develop healthier immune systems if they grow up with a dog..  Teaching kids responsibility to care for a pet is great too.
